How do I make myself drink more water? Can I lose weight if I drink more?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Oct 2, 2009

I do not drink a lot, probably only 1-2 glasses of water a day. Do you think maybe it is the reason it is hard for me to lose weight? How can I make myself drink more water? I hate running to the bathroom every hour, now I only go 2 times a day maximum…
I do work out a little, but not very often.
I do not drink any soda, the only thing I drink is diet iced tea and of course I eat liquid food ( soups, stews, etc)

Weight loss articles claim that not only should you drink 8 glasses of water/day, but take your weight in ounces… half it & that’s how much water you should have a day. If it’s hard to drink so much H2O try seltzer…it’s lighter. Also tea and clear soups count toward your water quota.

You will lose more weight because water flushes your system.

And exercise any kind for about 30 min/day.

Good luck

How much water do you have to drink to lose weight? weight loss tips plz!?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Oct 1, 2009

Hi I’m trying to lose 20-30 pounds and I here water will help lose weight….is this true? How much water should I drink and what will it do? Also, will drinking 3 cups of milk a day help? What are some other ways to lose weight? PLZ HELP!

Water will fill you up, but just like anything else, without exercise you won’t be seeing much results. You know what I’m doing to loose my gut? I’m just lifting weights (burning calories) but while doing so, eating healthy. Like, eat a salad before a main course or something, because of the fiber in it you’ll feel alot more full. That’s the key to loosing weight though, just eat as healthy as you can and get plenty of exercise. But, never skip any meals, like breakfest. If you only eat one meal a day and just skip everything else, your body will store the fat for energy so it will be harder. Just eat healthy, that’s my only advice. Along with exercise, and you should be good. As for the three cups of milk thing, I never heard of it. Hope this helps.

Why do you need to drink lots of water to lose weight?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Oct 1, 2009

It seems like just exercising and cutting calories will make you lose weight, but everyone keeps telling me I have to drink tons of water, too. I don’t get it.

Besides being a vital component of your body, water also helps to reduce weight. The more hydrated you are, the quicker your metabolism works. When you are dehydrated – even before you start becoming thirsty – your liver has to help the kidneys function and can’t metabolize fat as quickly. Your metabolism slows down, causing some unwanted fat to remain.

If your body is used to not getting water, it actually stores more in ankles, hips and thighs. In other words, it doesn’t trust you to keep bringing water, so it keeps what it can get, like a thirsty cactus. Once it realizes the water will keep coming, your body will get rid of the stores and you’ll lose weight!

Plus, if you’re suffering from cravings or having trouble controlling hunger, drinking water is a quick, healthy way to feel full. Drink a glass when you normally snack, and have one before your meal and right before going out.

Staying hydrated is not restricted to drinking water; milk, juice and other liquids – even some fruits and vegetables – are good sources of water. But avoid caffeinated beverages (coffee, soda), as they actually cause you to lose fluids and become dehydrated.

will I gain or lose weight if I drink water after a workout?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Sep 30, 2009

I’ve been confused about ‘water weight’; is it excess weight?
I’m always craving for water after a workout but I’m worried about the ‘water weight’ and ending up gaining weight instead of losing weight.

what helps is drinking Green tea to lose weight. Also staying away from pasta, bread and potatoes, fried foods, mayo, condiments, chps, candy, and any junk foods will help you lose weight. What helps a lot is taking adrenaline, glandulars. Take one capsule every four hours and not any more than that. Sometimes we are so stressed that cortisol builds up and to equalize that, adrenaline is needed to help bring it back to some normalcy. You cna find raw adrenalien at any Health food store. One capsule every four hours is sufficent it help you lsoe weight. Because it goes thru the body every four hours. But if you get dizzy or more anxious or aggitated drop or lower the adrenaline, for it can exhaust you. Its more safer than caffeine. But many times people drink caffein or eat chocolate because of the adrenaline rush I gives you. Tahst why many eat chocolate (the caffein in it) adrenaline is safer to take than drinking coffee. But also is safe to add folate to your diet. Take vitamins ona daily basis. Eating apples helps you to lose weight also. Because they have magnesium in it. Or just take more magnesium. For some people who are lactose intolerant, drinking milk can help you lose weight. but it can also cause a rebound affect if you dont replace whats needed for your system. For when you take too much magnesium it can slowly take calcium away from your bones. so alway make sure you get the counterparts. For one thing affects the other. If you really want to lose weight though, eat less, exercise mroe. Thats the safest thing to do. and do it consistantly, for losing weight takes time. It tok a long time t get that way so it will take just as long to get rid of the excess weight. But if you dont lose right away dont get upset for many times muscles are built up first before you actually lose weight.

What to drink to lose weight besides water?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Sep 29, 2009

My dad wants to lose weight, but HATES water for some reason. Is there anything he can drink that won’t add too many extra calories to his diet that still tastes OK? Anything sugar free with aspertane is not an option. Any suggestions?

Green tea can help speed up metabolism, but it doesn’t taste too great either. There are green tea based products that make water taste a lot better like this one:

Drink water..LOSE weight??

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Sep 28, 2009

I’m trying to lose weight, so I’ve been drinking alot of water a day and cutting down on what i eat.
So to help me stop eating so much I drink lots of water before, during, and after my meals.
I also drink it whenever I get hungry.
Is it better to drink the water like I’ve been doing..Or not try to drink so much.

i want to look thinner.. so will drinking all this water make me gain more weight?

How much water should i drink if im dieting??
no, im not anorexic.
if i lose about 15 ill be the right size.
but then i think i will still be fat.
i hope im not making myself anorexic.. but i dont think i am.
im really fat..

It’s fine to drink water to help fill the belly between meals and cut down on the growling. Water can’t make you gain or lose weight significantly though. Your body has in individual set balance of fluid, and if you drink enough water to fill that anything extra will just exit the body when you go to the bathroom. At least you will not have to worry about kidney or bladder infections, drinking plenty of water. One other liquid that is useful to help is soup broth, especially broth made with a little meat and veggies, although plain old veggie soup will work as well. That fills the same role as the water, with the added benefit of a few vitamins and minerals, but few calories. A cup of soup before the meal will fill you up nicely and last a little longer than plain water does. Mind you stick with the lower salt versions though, or you will tend to hold water due to the salt content. And you don’t really need the extra salt either. As far as how much to drink, really you can use your thirst as a guide for the most part. You need several liters or quarts of fluid a day- but it doesn’t all have to be straight water. Your body extracts water from anything that contains it- even fruits and veggies. Most people don’t drink water plain, but they still meet their fluid requirements for that reason. When you do decide to drink water, you can also throw in a slice of lemon or orange for the little flavor burst without adding significant calories as well. Or you can use the lemon juice from a bottle if you prefer. It makes the water taste a little more interesting, and breaks up things so you don’t start looking at the water bottle as a torture device. But you can relax about the amounts. You do really have to go out of your way to overdo it with water, going to the bathroom all the time tends to discourage normal folks from doing it. So if the water trick helps you out, don’t worry about it. But do consider replacing it with some soup before a meal at least.

Should I drink more water to lose weight?

Posted by Weight Loss Guru on Sep 27, 2009

Theres a diet I found online that tells me to drinks lots of water. Is it true that water will help you lose weight faster if you drink at least 4 cups a day?
OH, and will this help me lose cellulite?

It is very true if you drink more water it will help you lose weight. In the past few months I have lost a little over 30 pounds. Water definitely played a big part in that. I drink almost 100 ounces a day.
