Bottled water is something that is heavily advertised and is often spotted in the bags of celebrities and athletes. Since people are becoming more and more aware of their health, bottled water has become a very convenient and stylish way of hydrating themselves when they exercise or when they are on the go. But bottled water costs a dollar or so per gallon, and when you buy this regularly, the costs can really pile up. The cost of bottled water is about five hundred times that of tap water, and it causes us to wonder: is it really worth its price?

There is no clear answer, though. Bottled water is essential is certain situations, such as when you are hiking in the wilderness or when you are traveling in areas where ground water isn’t safe for drinking. The need for bottled water in these situations is so great. In homes and emergency kits, bottled water is always essential to have.

In most cases though, people buy and consume bottled water for different purposes than those mentioned before. Many people consume bottled water because they believe that it is cleaner or is processed so that dangerous chemicals can’t leak into it. But studies tell us that bottled water and tap water is almost equal when we talk of the germs and chemical content.

So the main health benefit of bottled water is the convenience of obtaining drinking water, which encourages people to drink more. Few Americans make time to down the recommended eight glasses of water per day, but with the rise of bottled water more people are drinking more water more often, which spells good news for everybody.

Drinking water helps you build vibrant skin cells; grow stronger, firmer hair; and replenish your muscles; leading to greater overall health. If bottled water is the only way you stay hydrated, then it’s definitely worth it.
